Dear Friend,
Thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Chuck Riley, and I am the State Representative for House District 29, which consists of Cornelius, Forest Grove, and a big piece of Hillsboro. Two years ago you honored me by reelecting me to represent you. I truly appreciate that honor and I am now running for State Senate District 15 and I am asking you to vote for me in 2010. Please take a moment and fill out a survey, which will help me understand your main concerns.
During the 2005 session, I spent a lot of time building relationships with freshman Republicans and Democrats so we could work together in the coming years. In the 2007 session I was appointed Chair of the House Government Accountability and Information Technology Committee. In that committee's oversight capacity, I began the process of finding ways to save taxpayer money by making information technology projects more efficient.
I hope to be able to continue that effort as your representative. I was also appointed to the Workforce and Economic Development Committee as Vice Chair and to the Consumer Protection Committee. Lowering Health Care Costs: In 2005 I sponsored drug purchasing pool legislation to reduce prescription drug prices. In the 2007 session, that legislation passed and became law.
Good-Paying Jobs: As Vice-Chair of the Workforce and Economic Development Committee, in 2007 I created research and development incentives to attract new businesses and good-paying jobs to Washington County. 2009 saw a major recession, not just in Oregon, but in the nation and the world. Unemployment soared, and I worked even harder to find ways to create good jobs. That work is not done, and I hope to be able to continue it. We need jobs in timber, manufacturing, high tech, and many other fields. I voted to create jobs in solar systems manufacturing and in electric car manufacturing as well as creating jobs in transportation infrastructure.
Safe Communities: During the 2005, 2007, and 2009 sessions, I worked with Republicans and Democrats to protect our kids from sexual predators and fought to protect our community from meth dealers. I will continue to listen to the community I represent, focus on shared priorities, and provide innovative solutions to the pressing challenges facing our community and our state. I believe there is a lot of promise in Oregon, but there is still much work to do.
I invite you to read my positions on the issues and offer your feedback. Your input will help me to better represent you in Salem.
Please feel free to contact me at 503-992-7125 or email me at chuck@chuckriley2010.com.
I hope I can count on your support in 2010.
Sincerely,

State Representative, District 29
